From the discovery of 11 new coronavirus (COVID-19) infections linked to an entertainment venue, followed by over 30 infections at a boxing match on March 6, 2020, at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, this marked a "turning point" in the COVID-19 outbreak in Thailand.
The outbreak, which has spread to over a thousand cases, originated from "social interaction" behaviors that involve close contact, such as eating, drinking, or sharing items. One measure implemented is Social Distancing , which means creating distance between ourselves and others in society. The public is encouraged to reduce outdoor activities, avoid public transportation, refrain from group activities, avoid crowded places, work from home, and avoid eating at restaurants. When interacting with others, maintain a distance of 1-2 meters (1 meter according to the World Health Organization, 2 meters according to the CDC), and wear a mask when outdoors. To reduce the chance of infection, it's crucial to remember that we cannot see the virus, but it spreads through the air and on surfaces. We don't know who is sick and who isn't, and conversely, we don't spread it to others because the incubation period is approximately 14-25 days, meaning it's possible that those we encounter may or may not be infected. Social Distancing helps reduce the rate of virus transmission.
With the COVID-19 pandemic becoming a new global crisis and impacting people's daily lives, many are feeling restless and longing to return to normalcy—to meet, socialize, and hug loved ones as before. Even though everyone needs to maintain social distancing for a while, we believe our care and love for each other remain strong. Think of it as doing this for yourself, your loved ones, and everyone else around you, just like the song "True Love Knows No Distance," a song of encouragement for everyone by P'Po, P'Pod, P'Nop, and P'Boy Trai.
How to practice social distancing.
- Avoid going to crowded places such as schools, movie theaters, stadiums, and trade shows.

For example, many world leaders have switched to the Thai wai (bowing gesture). Maintain a distance of at least 6 feet or 2 meters to prevent the spread of germs.
- Refrain from organizing or attending large meetings.
