Tripping or falling is not only embarrassing in front of onlookers, but it can also lead to injuries. Statistics show that falls are a significant accident, especially for the elderly – 60% of falls occur at home, 30% in the community, and 10% in nursing homes. Furthermore, 25% of falls are attributed to slippery floors, insufficient lighting, inappropriate footwear, or obstructions in walkways.
Each year, over 1,600 people die from falls, making it the second leading cause of death after road accidents. Furthermore, one in three elderly people experience falls, and half fall more than once. 40% of falls result in hip fractures, tendonitis, and potential brain damage. 20% of injuries are fatal. These accidents can be prevented by: 1. Removing obstacles from walkways and stairs, such as shoes, toys, and storage boxes. 2. Organizing electrical cords, telephone cords, and other cables by securing them to walls or floors, covering them with cable trays, or placing them under carpets. 3. Choosing anti-slip carpets.
