The beauty of drinking coffee in a shop

Coffee shops are a favorite for many. The good atmosphere and the aroma of coffee make them a popular weekend activity. Besides shopping at malls and finding delicious restaurants, searching for a coffee shop is another thing we often look for on weekends. Not only do we get to enjoy delicious coffee, but we also get some great new profile pictures as a bonus.

Data from Nestlé (Thailand) Co., Ltd. indicates that during the COVID-19 situation, the growth of the Thai coffee market in 2020 saw a 10.3% increase in home coffee consumption, while out-of-home coffee consumption decreased by 30-40%. The average coffee consumption per Thai person is 300 cups per year, still lower than Japan's average of 400 cups per person per year and Europe's 600 cups per person per year.

The increased proportion of coffee consumption at home is partly a result of working from home. However, enjoying coffee at a cafe remains popular, not just for drinking coffee, but for some, a third home where they can relax or work. Some cafes have become tourist attractions, must-see spots, with word-of-mouth recommendations and real-time reviews on social media, including live streams and descriptive writings showcasing the cafe's decor and the overall experience.

Nowadays, a coffee shop's signature comes not only from the taste of the coffee, a diverse menu, and attractively presented drinks, but also from the atmosphere and decor. This encourages customers to spend more time in the shop, increasing sales opportunities. What do people do in coffee shops besides drinking coffee? Read books, take photos, go on dates, use their phones, meet friends, work, have meetings, etc. Some even come with their whole family. Therefore, coffee shops can add other activities to cater to diverse lifestyles.

Ideas for creating attractions for your store.
  1. Enhance your entrance with a welcoming carpet or let customers know that Wi-Fi is available.
  2. Decorate the interior of the store by using designer rugs as directional signs or symbols instead of standing signs, reducing obstruction in walkways and creating a unique look.
  3. Decorate the highlight spots for taking beautiful photos, enhanced with uniquely designed rugs.
  4. Use rugs and furniture to define the boundaries of each seating area, creating multiple zones.
  5. The music should have a relaxing tempo, creating a refreshing and energizing effect on the listener, but it shouldn't be played too loudly.
  6. Some shops with ample space may allocate an area or playground as a Kids Café for families with children.

When you sit in a coffee shop, glancing at the lamps, the rugs, the coffee cups, the books, or hearing the music playing in the background, the conversations of the people sitting there, and seeing the constant movement of people, can make you feel inspired or energized. Sometimes, it can even spark great ideas.
